WEEK 1: LANGUAGES ARE ALIVE
The number of languages spoken in the world is constantly changing. This occurs because they are in accordance with the world, which is in constant movement as well. Nowadays, we can find a myriad of languages that are spoken across the world, roughly 6912, without taking into account the innumerable dialectal and spoken languages and death languages. I have always been very keen on learning a widely spoken language such as Arabic or Chinese. However, today I have a predilection for learning less well-known languages like Norwegian or Danish. My interest awaken when I studied the course of Historia de la Lengua Inglesa II and the influence of other nations, languages and cultures onto the English language, along with the TV series Vikings, where the Scandinavian culture is very accurately recreated.
This week I have been very much in contact with the English language. I have been reading Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf, a very chaotic structure to understand but beautifully written, a very detailed analysis of the human psyche. On the other hand, I joined an English academy to get a C1 official title to be able to develop my communicative, comprehension and writing skills for a future job abroad, which I devote a great deal of time lately. Furthermore, I am reading poetry out loud a little while every day which it helps me to improve my pronunciation and comprehension skills, and also memorizing.
By the way, Daffodils is one of my favourite poems by William Wordsworth.
