WEEK 5: RAVE REVIEWS
The review that I have chosen is a review of the Pulp Fiction movie:

A review is an evaluation, a critical article or report on literature, plays, films, art, etc. However, it is structured as an essay: it features an introduction, a body and a conclusion. In the introduction, the author makes a general analysis of Pulp Fiction. He starts naming the director, Quentin Tarantino, and the year of first release, 1994. Then, he makes a tiny description of the movie and introduces some of its characteristics with terms related to the movie such as 'femme fatale' and deadly hit-men. He combines facts and opinions in his descriptions, though.
In the body, he provides the readers with some facts about the movie, including the money raised with its release in comparison to other movies it competed against the same year. Later, he mentions some of the criticism of the film, providing some quotes and giving an objective opinion on the statements. Then, he briefly explains the film's background and origin answering questions such as in which it has been inspired and for which purpose it has been made. Moreover, he classifies the movie into its genre in order to place their audience in that environment and describes some actions avoiding spoilers. He follows with an enumeration of the Academy Awards in which it has been nominated. Finally, he/she names and describes the main characters of the film and explains the storyline the film follows.
Even though the author has carried out this review in an objective way, their noticeable admiration towards the film is undeniable. In fact, he includes several quotable lines from the movie. Despite making use of a quite formal language, it is readable. It might be considered to be adapted to the readers because it provides essential and useful information for those who have never seen it and a picture of the film to get familiar with it. Still, he/she uses vocabulary related to the film which is very appealing to the fans. In a nutshell, the author proves himself/herself to be familiar with the work he/she is analysing and opines with subtlety.
This week I have watched the film Prometheus for the course on Cultura Anglo-Norteamericana. Besides, in the academy, I did a CAE mock exam and I passed!
