WEEK 10: UNDER THE WEATHER WITH THE WEATHER

One of the piece of news I have found is about Great Britan weather differences between North and South this week by The Weather Channel.

https://weather.com/en-GB/unitedkingdom/weather/news/2018-05-15-uk-weather-warming-up-weekend-temperatures-rising

In this piece of news about weather issues, there are warnings about rising temperatures on the one hand and warnings about cloudy conditions on the other hand, with vocabulary and expressions such as:

- Sunny spells.
- Fine, dry conditions.
- Temperatures climbing towards 20C.
- Fair weather.
- Sunshine.
- Sun breaks.
- Mild temperatures.

And then:
-Cooler northerly flow.
- Clouds and showers.
- High pressure.
- Band of showers.
- Cloudy conditions.
- Few drops of rain.

Another piece of news is about California weather issues about stormy and snowy conditions.

https://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/california-to-settle-into-a-stormy-weather-pattern-this-week/70004362

The weather issues expressions employed are:

- Stormy and wet weather.
- Rounds of rain and mountain snow.
- Forecast.
- Weather pattern.
- Sunshine.
- A siege of cloudy skies and wet conditions.
- Snow-covered roads.
- Drought-stricken areas.
- Flash-flood.
- Mudslide risk.
- Heavy mountain snow.
- Travel disruptions.
- Boost to water supply.
- Risk of debris flows.
- Large and slow-moving storm.
- Rounds of moisture.
- Heavy rain and snow.
- Episodes of rain and mountain snow.

These weeks I have been reading two postmodernist books, 'Flaubert's Parrot' and 'The Passion of New Eve', for my course of Modernism. They are highly recommended for those who are interested in both literature and postmodernist writing. They are extremely thought-provoking and stimulating.
